Agatelady Rock Shop

in 2022 before I closed the Gitche Gumee Museum, local resident, Elise Cormier, asked me if she and her husband could preserve the museum forever by creating a virtual tour. They had not created such a product before, but decided to do the research and get up the learning curve. They solicited help from an expert at the Smithsonian, rented the camera (which was not cheap), filmed in all of the museum's rooms, and compiled the virtual tour. They both went beyond the call of duty and, for their monumental effort, I will be forever grateful!

The tour is available at  http://visualconstruction.com/GGM . The virtual tour includes six separate videos of the different rooms located on the bottom floor of the museum building. After opening the link, you start in the first room (north most room), which was the entry gift shop room area where my main sales counter was located. The second virtual video is the next (second) gift shop room; the third and fourth videos are the west and east sides of the next room, which was the first museum room that featured rocks and minerals. The fifth video is the back west museum room that displayed Grand Marais general history as well as lumbering history. The sixth  video features the back east museum room with fishing and Niemi family displays (Axel Niemi was the founder of the Gitche Gumee Museum). 

When you are in each room during the virtual tour, use the arrow keys on the bottom of the screen to move right, left, up, and down. There are  - & + keys that can be used to decrease or increase the size of the video. You can also move around each room by grabbing the screen and moving it in the desired direction.
